Founder: Frank, AK5FM

Greetings, I became a Amateur "Ham" radio operator in December of 2007.  In June 2008 I upgraded to General and then to Extra in December of 2011. I became a VE in 2012 (ARRL-VE and W5YI-VE). It has been great to help add new Hams to the ranks. As of 10/31/2015, my call sign was changed from KE5RYJ to my new 2-by-2 call AK5FM. My OMISS number is 6503. I moved from the Uvalde, Texas area in 2009 to my current location near Hondo, Texas.

My current station setup consists of a Yaesu FT-450AT, Icom 208H, Wouxun KG-UV2D, and Kenwood TM-281A. My current antenna is a 80m OCF dipole, and an MFJ 1796. I enjoy rag-chewing and participating in nets on the HF bands. I am trying to do more digital work on the HF bands too.

In November of 2012, I launched a website called "Kosher Hams Radio" which I hope meets a need in the greater Hebrew roots religious community. We have a Facebook page too, and if you use Facebook please like our page.

Kosher Hams Radio

Many faith based groups have an amateur radio "ham radio" presence. Some have been established for quite some time, such as: The Salvation Army, Southern Baptist Convention, Seventh Day Adventist, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

The ham radio operators in these various organizations provide emergency communications, training and support for their faith based group, along with supplying food and supplies as they are able during emergencies.

However, in the greater Hebrew roots movement and similar faith based groups (i.e. Messianic Jewish, Nazarene Israelite, and Sacred Name fellowships and congregations), there is little if anyone trained in amateur radio or emergency communications.

Kosher Hams Radio has been founded to help change this issue among the various fellowships, congregations and groups making up the greater Hebrew roots movement. Our goals are to provide training, information, and support for any person, congregation or fellowship that would like to develop a communications arm for their congregation or fellowship. We also exist to provide an on the air presence in the form of radio nets as well as this website presence. We look forward to to hearing from individuals as well as fellowships and congregations and being a resource and place of contact and camaraderie.
